By winning the toss, New Zealand opted to bowl first. New Zealand played with their same eleven players with no replacement in the team. While from the England side Jason Roy was replaced with Sam billings due to injury in calf muscles.

With the early dismissal of Martin Guptill and Skipper Kane Williamson, Mitchell, Conway, and Neesham handled the match carefully showing the path towards the winning streak.
Kiwi opener Daryl Mitchell stood like a wall against England which when after striking went to the boundary made him reach 72 runs in 47 deliveries unbeaten till the end. Devon Conway and James Neesham supported Mitchell from the other side of the wicket. Conway scored 4 runs short for his fifty in 38 balls. While Neesham crushed 27 runs from 11 balls to play a pivotal role in winning the chase. Neesham came onto the field when Kiwis needed 60 runs from 29 balls. By his powerful hitting, it came down to 21 runs from 14 balls.
The last three overs turned the entire game and snatched the game from England's hands, the most expensive over of England in the entire tournament by Jordan adding 23 runs in the 17th over was a big blow for Englishmen.
In the 19th over Daryl Mitchell finished the game in style by a boundary at long leg for a four in Woakes spell adding 20 runs in his over by hitting some roaring shots over the rope taking Kiwis towards a glamourous win.
Chris Woakes took 2 wickets by giving 36 runs in his overs while Liam Livingstone took 2 wickets by giving 22 runs.
